FREE partners with foster care agencies and local school districts to provide current and former foster care youth and other identified high school students with experiential work-based knowledge through classroom learning and internship placement. This is a credited course co-taught with a Career Technology Educator to build vocational skills through work-readiness training, career exploration, culminating with an internship at one of FREE’s facilities.
FREE partners with local foster care agencies in Nassau and Suffolk Counties to provide foster care youth with work readiness training, apprenticeships, internships, and summer jobs. This program assists vulnerable youth who are aging out of foster care to build skills and self-esteem in order to increase their chances at success as young adults.
FREE provides on-site oversight and job coaching at our facility sites for youth who are employed through the Department of Labor in the capacities of maintenance, clerical, grounds keeping, and more.
