Individuals With Differing Abilities Proudly Present DreamWorks Shrek the Musical With the BroadHollow Theatre Company

June 24, 2014 | News

The Bayview Arts Center played host to a production of DreamWorks Shrek the Musical. From June 6 through June 8 the BroadHollow Theatre Company partnered with individuals with different abilities from the FREE Players of Family Residences And Essential Enterprises, Inc. (FREE).

The FREE Players was developed back in 1993 involving a number of FREE employees who volunteered their time to support individuals who loved to sing, dance and act. The FREE Players is a one-of-a-kind theatre troupe within FREE embracing the talents of performers of all abilities. The FREE Players dedicate their energies to the arts through instruction in dance, drama, music, technical theater, and fine arts. Through the arts, individuals have made great strides in improving their interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to multitask, focus, and take direction, all of which helps them move towards their goal of being independent contributing members of society.

The annual musical fundraiser supports opportunities for the men and women who receive services from FREE. Proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will help to support the plan to have a potential theatre of their own.
