FREE’s Valued Team Members earn a badge in “Community Residence Leadership” from Stony Brook University

Congratulations to this quarter’s Valued Team Members for earning a badge in “Community Residence Leadership in Supervision” from Stony Brook University! By earning the University Badge in Community Residence Leadership in Supervision, FREE’s Valued Team Members have developed skills aligned with the Core Competencies of the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD).

This badge aligns with the following FREE Core Competencies:

  • Putting People First – Understanding the needs of staff, being sympathetic/empathetic, respectful, supportive and recognizing potential in Valued Team Members.
  • Building and Maintaining Positive Relationships – Ensuring employee satisfaction and leading towards success, working as a team, listening and providing emotional support when needed, creating a trusting work environment through transparency, clear communication, and feedback.
  • Demonstrating Professionalism – Serve as a role model by being reliable, flexible, responsible, and fair. Provide opportunities for collaboration to accomplish shared goals and objectives, and strengthening the culture/vision.
  • Being a Change Agent – Provide opportunities for positive change and develop a transformational leadership style. Advocate for the team and the Individuals they have the privilege to serve. Develop a sense of pride and vision in each Valued Team Member.

In partnership with Stony Brook University, we are aimed at helping all Valued Team Members learn how to model the way for those around them.
