PrideAbility Marches with Pride at the Long Island Pride Parade & Festival

June 18, 2026 | News

PrideAbility-LI/Queens proudly joined hundreds of community members at the Long Island Pride Parade & Festival, celebrating diversity, inclusion, and the power of self-advocacy.

More than 50 participants, including self-advocates, staff, family members, and supporters, marched together in a vibrant display of pride and unity. Despite the summer heat, the group was energized by the overwhelming sense of community, acceptance, and joy that filled the day.

The FREE Players Color Guard once again brought excitement and spirit to the parade, helping make the event a memorable experience for everyone involved.

PrideAbility-LI/Queens extends its gratitude to the many residences, agencies, and community partners who joined the march and demonstrated their commitment to creating inclusive spaces where everyone can be their authentic selves.

Throughout the parade, participants proudly chanted, “PrideAbility is our name; Equality is our game!”—a message that reflects the group’s ongoing commitment to advocacy, visibility, and equal opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who identify as members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

PrideAbility-LI/Queens is part of a growing network of LGBTQIA+ self-advocacy groups that empowers individuals to build connections, share experiences, and advocate for inclusion and acceptance in their communities.

Thank you to everyone who marched, cheered, and celebrated with us. Together, we continue to build a more inclusive world where everyone belongs.
