TRI began its first major NYSID contract August 2014, partnering with American Maintenance to provide janitorial services at Nassau Community College. Over the past two years, this relationship has expanded to include cleaning sites at SUNY Stony Brook, SUNY Old Westbury and Pilgrim Psychiatric Center. More than 180 individuals are employed under these contracts, enabling TRI to support an efficient and economical procurement alternative, providing training and employment opportunities to a diverse workforce of people with disabilities while supplying American Maintenance with individuals that are capable of performing the quality service their company strives for. Together, we have created real, meaningful employment opportunities at fair, living wages for workers with disabilities.

Founded in 1965 TRI was one of the first organizations to recognize the importance of providing work training opportunities for differently-abled individuals. TRI has gone on to place over 11,000 individuals into competitive employment. TRI’s motto of “We believe in the power of work” underscores TRI’s commitment to help empower disabled and disenfranchised individuals into finding their place in the competitive job market.
