From the Parents’ Perspective: Joey

July 31, 2017 | News

As parents, we are often apprehensive when our child with disabilities faces a new challenge. That being said, our son, Joey, vacationed on an eight-day cruise!

As the time to depart approached, my wife and I shared such mixed emotions – both tremendous anxiety and excitement! We wanted him to have a positive experience, but we also knew of the challenges he has faced. What great joy we felt receiving a positive text message from a staff member during the cruise! It included a photo of our son with a big smile – that picture lifted our spirits beyond measure!

After the cruise, we learned Joey had a wonderful time, was well behaved and would be welcome to participate in future trips! We were filled with happiness and relief and with very positive hopes for future adventures!
