Mental Health Services

FREE serves adults with mental illness in three areas of services:

• Residential services
• Creative day programming through Terry’s Place PROS
• Vocational services

The agency sponsors a broad array of supportive housing facilities including 6 group homes, over 20 licensed apartments with staff support, 19 supported housing apartments that provide a rental subsidy and occasional staff visits and apartments for individuals and families who were previously homeless. FREE offers the unique feature of the opportunity to coordinate mental health needs with physical health concerns through the Family Wellness Center, our full-service medical clinic located in Hauppauge.

Terry’s Place converted to a Personalized Recovery-Oriented Service (PROS) model on January 4, 2010. This new model developed and licensed by the NYS Office of Mental Health, helps participants identify their dreams and goals and develops treatment and rehabilitation services to help them achieve their goals, whether it is employment, more independent housing or improved health or relationships.

Preparing for and finding a job can become a reality for consumers engaged by FREE. By working through the Terry’s Place PROS or receiving vocational training through FREE affiliate The Rehabilitation Institute (TRI), we can help individuals attain paid or volunteer employment.
