Autism Spectrum Services
Autism Spectrum Disorder’s (ASD’s) include Autism, Asperger’s, and PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorder). ASD’s are a group of disorders that generally display the same characteristics, but range in severity and intensity. There are 3 areas of functioning that are deficient in someone who has an ASD: Social Skills, Communication, and Emotional Functioning. People with Asperger’s syndrome show no language, cognitive or adaptive self-help delays in childhood.
Family Residences and Essential Enterprises has been a leader in the provision of Residential Services for individuals with both Autism and Asperger's for over 15 years. Services can include but are not limited to:
- functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans to target inappropriate behaviors associated with the disorder and to replace them with appropriate behaviors,
- speech therapy to help facilitate communications,
- occupational therapy to help with fine motor skills and sensory integration,
- physical therapy to help with gross motor skills,
- vocational training to help individuals function at a job,
- residential settings that offer a structured environment,
- psychiatric services for those that are in need of psychiatric medication, and
- psychological services for those in need of counseling.
All of our staff who works closely with individuals who fall into the Autism Spectrum are highly trained. We are pleased to report that the individuals who reside with us attained greater independence in a place the call “home”.
