AFTER SCHOOL RESPITE: After School Respite Program currently serves school age children and young adults. It is designed to provide a program where persons with various disabilities (i.e. mental retardation, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury) can socialize and have fun. The program currently has three locations: Hauppauge, Garden City, and Setauket. The hours of operation are from 2:30PM to 5:00PM. Transportation is arranged for all participants. Activities vary from day to day and include:
Arts and Crafts Projects Cooking Games Holiday Parties Field trips into the community A week long vacation with staff
RESPITE PROGRAM: Family Residences Respite Program provides services for developmentally disabled individuals living with their families. These services include overnight and hourly visits of up to 30 consecutive days. The Respite Program focuses on recreation and community integration while providing the program participant with a fun, relaxing "vacation" atmosphere. The Respite Program has locations in both Suffolk and Nassau County. Each home can serve up to four individuals at one time under 24 hour supervision. The program focuses on social interaction and leisure time activities on an individual basis.
