Program Without Walls I - This group continues to do very well. They continue to volunteer at Theatre III, the Port Jefferson Methodist Church, Lincoln Ave, and Horsabilities, and they are in the community every day. After the completion of the show they are going to be making some seasonal spring dried flower baskets to sell at Theatre III during their main-stage shows. They have been very involved in the show for the past three months and now are glad to be back to their regular schedule. One of the Day Hab consumers who was working on the Project Liberty Video has gained employment, and is no longer able to participate in the video. As a result, a PWW 1 consumer has picked up the part, and he is rehearsing daily at Day Hab with the other character in the script.
Program Without Walls II - The group continues to volunteer at Woodhaven Nursing home every Friday. One of the participants plays the piano while the others sing along or socialize with the patients. The group has made arrangements with the Port Jefferson Historical Society to assist in the celebration of Port Jeffersons Birthday that will begin next week. The group will join a Historical Society member on the grounds of Mather House Museum to do gardening and some grounds clean up. The Board of Directors of the Historical Society has already approved this venture. We have a tentative date of the first week in May as the start for the childrens reading group at Port Jefferson Library, during which two consumers will lead the group in reading childrens stories to pre-schoolers.
